The standard supply condition is solution annealed, with a density of approximately 7.93 g/cm³. Common surface finishes include 2B/BA/No.4/8K. Plate thickness ranges from approximately 0.3–150 mm, and the corresponding standards and grades are ASTM A240/AISI 304/UNS S30400/EN 1.4301.
304 stainless steel cold-rolled plates have a PREN value of approximately 18, exhibiting excellent corrosion resistance in mild environments (such as atmosphere, fresh water, and low-concentration organic acids). It can withstand continuous operating temperatures up to 870°C (1600°F) and short-term peak temperatures of 1090°C (2000°F) without significant oxidation, and possesses reliable mechanical strength with a minimum yield strength of 205 MPa and a minimum tensile strength of 515 MPa.
