What are the differences between 310 and 310S stainless steel pipes?
The main difference between 310 and 310S stainless steel pipes lies in their carbon content: 310 stainless steel typically has a carbon content of up to 0.25%, while 310S has a carbon content limited to ≤ 0.08%. This makes 310S more resistant to sensitization and intergranular corrosion during welding or high-temperature use (continuous operating temperature up to 1150°C, short-term peak temperature approximately 1200°C).
Applications
310 stainless steel tubes are widely used in applications such as furnace tubes, radiant heaters, kiln linings, boiler superheater sections, and petrochemical reformer coils. They are particularly suitable for applications requiring long-term operation in high-temperature environments above 850°C and where excellent resistance to oxidation and scaling in air or combustion gases is critical.
