astm a249 specification.pdf
What is ASTM A249 standard?
ASTM A249 is a standard specification for welded austenitic steel tubes used as boilers, superheaters, heat exchangers, and condensers. It covers the chemical and mechanical requirements, testing, and quality control for these tubes, which are available in various grades like TP304, TP304L, and TP316L. The specification defines the size range, dimensional tolerances, heat treatment, and surface finish requirements for the tubes.
ASTM A249 TP304 specification
ASTM A249 TP304 is a specification for welded austenitic stainless steel tubing used in applications like boilers, heat exchangers, and condensers. It requires a minimum tensile strength of 515 MPa, a minimum yield strength of 205 MPa, and a minimum elongation of 40% in 50mm. The specification covers the material, dimensions, tolerances, testing, and delivery conditions for this tubing, which is produced from flat-rolled strips and often bright annealed for a clean surface.

Welded Tube Pressure Rating For ASTM A249

What is the difference between ASTM A269 and A249?
ASTM A249 requires the weld to be cold-worked after welding, and before final heat treatment. ASTM A269 does not require any cold-working or weld bead control. ASTM A270 does not require weld bead. ASTM A554 can be supplied with the weld bead left on, and hence it complies with the "Bead Removed" option of A554.
What is the difference between ASTM A249 and A213?
ASTM A249 is a standard specification for welded austenitic steel boiler, superheater, heat-exchanger, and condenser tubes. ASTM A213 is a standard specification for seamless ferritic and austenitic alloy-steel boiler, superheater, and heat-exchanger tubes.
