Overview
STS321H is a titanium-stabilized, high-carbon austenitic stainless steel, designed for high-temperature applications requiring excellent creep strength and intergranular corrosion resistance. With a carbon content of 0.04-0.10% and titanium addition (0.20-0.70%), it combines high-temperature strength with resistance to intergranular corrosion, as titanium forms carbides to prevent chromium depletion during welding and high-temperature service. It contains 17.00-19.00% chromium and 9.00-12.00% nickel to maintain a stable austenitic structure, is non-magnetic, and has good weldability. It is suitable for continuous service at temperatures up to 850°C, making it ideal for high-temperature pressure vessels and heat exchangers.
Chemical Composition (wt%)
C: 0.04-0.10, Cr: 17.00-19.00, Ni: 9.00-12.00, Ti: 0.20-0.70, Mn ≤ 2.00, Si ≤ 1.00, P ≤ 0.045, S ≤ 0.030
Typical Mechanical Properties (Annealed Condition)
Tensile Strength (Rm): ≥ 515 MPa; Yield Strength (Rp0.2): ≥ 205 MPa; Elongation (A): ≥ 40%; Brinell Hardness (HB): ≤ 201
Core Advantages
Titanium stabilization prevents intergranular corrosion during welding and high-temperature service; high carbon content enhances high-temperature creep strength; excellent oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures (continuous service up to 850°C); non-magnetic; good weldability and formability; suitable for high-temperature pressure vessels and heat-resistant components.
Applications
High-temperature boilers, heat exchangers, steam pipelines, petrochemical reactors, and nuclear power plant components requiring high creep strength and intergranular corrosion resistance.
Equivalent Grades
EN 1.4878, UNS S32109, GB 07Cr18Ni10Ti, AISI 321H, SUS321H
