Grade 310 / 310S: A top choice for very hot environments, offering high strength and oxidation resistance up to 1150°C (2100°F) in continuous service, used in furnace parts, heat treatment, and industrial heaters.
Grade 309: Similar to 310 but with less nickel, also provides good strength and oxidation resistance, suitable for temperatures up to 1095°C (2000°F).
Grade 253 MA (S30815): Contains silicon, nitrogen, and rare earth elements for superior oxidation resistance and creep strength, often outperforming 310/309 at high heat (up to 1093°C/2000°F).
Grade 321 / 347: Stabilized with titanium (321) or niobium (347) to prevent intergranular corrosion at mid-range temperatures (e.g., 480°C+), making them great for jet engine parts and exhaust systems.
Key Factors for Selection
Temperature Range: Determine your peak continuous and intermittent temperatures.
Corrosion Needs: High chromium content helps resist scaling, but 316 offers better wet corrosion resistance at lower temps.
Strength: High nickel/chromium and elements like nitrogen/silicon boost high-temp strength and creep resistance.
