It is suitable for high temperature and non-strong chloride environments with basic requirements for corrosion resistance, such as boilers, chimneys, heat exchangers and general industrial pipelines.

ASTM A268 TP405 seamless stainless steel tube features a ferritic structure with high cold-rolling precision, allowing for direct bending and forming. The pickled surface achieves Ra≤1.6μm. With a low coefficient of thermal expansion (10.5×10⁻⁶/°C), it exhibits minimal welding deformation. Using ER405 welding wire, it requires no preheating or post-weld heat treatment, significantly reducing welding costs.
Compared to standard ferritic steels, ASTM A268 TP405 offers superior performance at only 60% of the cost of 304 stainless steel. It is well-suited for large-scale piping systems in applications such as water treatment and HVAC, providing a balanced solution for mild corrosion at ambient temperatures and oxidation resistance at medium to high temperatures (up to 800°C). Its overall cost-performance ratio far exceeds that of carbon steel and low-alloy steel.
