ASTM A268 TP443 cold-formed pipes support complex fabrication processes such as cold bending (bending radius ≥2D) and flaring, making them ideal for intricate piping systems. With chloride resistance up to 5,000 ppm, they are suitable for coastal and moderate brackish water environments. The polished surface (Ra≤0.8μm) enhances resistance to crevice corrosion. TP443 offers long-term temperature resistance up to 850°C and superior oxidation resistance compared to 304, making it well-suited for high-temperature applications such as boiler exhaust systems. ER409Cb filler wire is recommended for welding, and no post-weld heat treatment is required.

Difference between TP443 ferritic pipes and 316 stainless steel pipes:
TP443 ferritic pipes are high-chromium (19–21%), nickel-free, and over 40% more cost-effective than 316 stainless steel. They offer good resistance to moderate chlorides and oxidation at temperatures below 850°C, making them ideal for coastal infrastructure and industrial water treatment systems. In contrast, 316 stainless steel contains nickel and molybdenum, provides excellent resistance to aggressive corrosion (Cl⁻ ≤20,000 ppm), and is non-magnetic, making it suitable for seawater applications, highly corrosive chemical environments, and precision equipment.
