The SS 321 stainless steel plates we supply are austenitic stainless steels containing 17%–19% chromium and 9%–12% nickel. During the manufacturing process, strict titanium stabilization treatment (Ti ≥ 5×C) is implemented to prevent sensitization. This ensures that the plates reliably resist intergranular corrosion within a continuous service temperature range of 450°C to 850°C.
SS 321 plates can be produced via either hot rolling or cold rolling processes, offering a combination of high strength, excellent oxidation resistance, good formability and weldability, as well as outstanding low-temperature strength. Although this material cannot be hardened through heat treatment, its strength can be significantly enhanced through cold working processes.
When SS 321 hot-rolled plates undergo cold rolling, their dislocation density increases significantly, resulting in a substantial boost to the material's strength. Specifically, the yield strength rises from ≥205 MPa (prior to cold rolling) to 250–300 MPa; tensile strength increases from ≥515 MPa to 550–620 MPa; and Vickers hardness improves from 150–180 HV to 180–220 HV.
SS 321 cold-rolled stainless steel plates feature a low surface roughness-ranging from Ra 0.8 to 1.6 μm-and flatness deviations controlled within ±0.05 mm; this level of precision is significantly higher than that of hot-rolled plates. Consequently, this material is ideally suited for the fabrication of precision components requiring extremely tight dimensional tolerances, such as aerospace parts and precision electronic components.
