Overview
2507 is a super duplex stainless steel, engineered to deliver exceptional corrosion resistance and ultra-high mechanical strength for the most demanding industrial environments. It features a balanced austenitic-ferritic structure (50-50%) with a high chromium (24.00-26.00%), nickel (6.00-8.00%), and molybdenum (3.00-5.00%) content, plus nitrogen (0.24-0.32%) for enhanced strength and corrosion resistance. This grade offers superior resistance to pitting, crevice, and stress corrosion cracking in highly aggressive media, including seawater, acidic solutions, and chloride-rich environments. Its high tensile strength eliminates the need for thicker sections, reducing weight and cost in heavy-duty applications. It exhibits moderate magnetic properties due to its ferrite component.
Chemical Composition (wt%)
C ≤ 0.03, Si ≤ 0.80, Mn ≤ 1.20, P ≤ 0.030, S ≤ 0.020, Cr: 24.00-26.00, Ni: 6.00-8.00, Mo: 3.00-5.00, N: 0.24-0.32
Typical Mechanical Properties (Annealed Condition)
Tensile Strength (Rm): ≥ 795 MPa; Yield Strength (Rp0.2): ≥ 550 MPa; Elongation (A): ≥ 20%; Brinell Hardness (HB): ≤ 310
Core Advantages
Super duplex structure provides ultra-high strength and extreme corrosion resistance; outperforms 2205 in aggressive chloride and acidic environments; excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking and pitting; high nitrogen content enhances strength without compromising ductility; cost-effective for high-load, corrosive applications.
Applications
Offshore oil and gas equipment, seawater desalination plants, chemical and petrochemical reactors, acid processing pipelines, marine propulsion systems, and high-pressure, high-corrosion industrial components.
Equivalent Grades
UNS S32750, EN 1.4410, STS2507, SUS2507, GB 022Cr25Ni7Mo4N
