As a professional supplier of special stainless steel materials, GNEE ensures stable chemical composition and reliable performance for 316L UG materials. We provide comprehensive support from material selection to small-batch trial orders and customized production, while also offering deep processing services such as cutting, beveling, rolling, and welding procedure qualification.
The ASME A240 316L UG stainless steel plates we supply are improved austenitic stainless steels specially designed for extremely corrosive environments such as urea production, chemical synthesis, and marine engineering. Available forms include hot rolled plates, cold rolled plates, and clad plates, meeting the manufacturing requirements of large pressure vessels such as urea reactors, heat exchangers, and reaction towers.
Our Products

ASME A240 316L UG 2B Plate
Our 316L UG stainless steel plates are available in thicknesses from 0.5 mm to 150 mm, widths from 1000 mm to 3300 mm, and lengths from 2000 mm to 12000 mm, with various surface finishes including 2B, BA, No.1, and No.4. Each batch is supplied with an EN 10204 3.1 material test certificate (MTC), and third-party inspection reports from SGS, TUV, or BV can also be provided to ensure full compliance with urea-grade standards such as ASME, ASTM, and DIN 1.4435.

316L UG stainless steel VS. 316L
Compared with standard 316L stainless steel, ASME A240 316L UG plates demonstrate superior resistance to chemical media such as sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, and organic acids. In addition, they maintain stable performance under continuous service temperatures up to 870°C and intermittent temperatures up to 925°C, making them highly suitable for high-temperature heat exchangers and furnace tube applications.

Welding Requirements for 316L UG Plate
Welding Consumables:Specialized urea-grade welding consumables (such as 19.15.3L or similar low-ferrite filler wires) must be used.
Heat Input Control:Welding must be performed using low current and high travel speed; interpass temperature must be strictly controlled (typically < 150°C) to prevent grain coarsening or the formation of deleterious phases caused by heat accumulation.
Surface Treatment:Thorough post-weld passivation treatment is mandatory to restore the protective corrosion-resistant film on the surface.
A240 316L UG Stainless Steel Plate Price per kg
As of April/May 2026, the pricing for A240 316L stainless steel plate (where "UG" typically denotes "Ultra-Grade" or General-Use Grade quality 316L) is being influenced by rising nickel costs,
particularly within the Asian market. Estimated Unit Prices (USD/kg):
Cold-Rolled Plate (2B Finish; Thickness: 0.3–3.0 mm): Approximately $4.09–$4.22/kg (China FOB).
Hot-Rolled Plate (No. 1 Finish; Thickness: 3.0–50 mm): Approximately $3.96–$3.99/kg (China FOB).
U.S. Domestic Market (HRAP Plate): Prices are higher, typically ranging between $6.50 and $7.00/kg.

Delivery Lead Time
The delivery lead time for cold-rolled sheets (typically ranging from 0.5mm to 6.0mm in thickness) depends on stock availability and processing requirements:
In-stock: 3 – 7 days. If the warehouse holds finished coils or sheets that meet urea-grade specifications, the process involves only slitting, surface treatment, and re-inspection.
New Production: 30 – 45 days.
Customized Sizes: For orders requiring special widths or sheets with exceptionally high flatness, the delivery lead time may be extended by one week.
Packaging
Surface Protection: Covered with a PVC or PE protective film (single-sided or double-sided) to prevent scratches during transportation and processing.
Inner Packaging: Wrapped in waterproof paper and anti-rust film.
Outer Packaging:
Steel Pallets or Wooden Skids.
Edges are protected using angle iron or corner guards.
Labeling: Each package bears a detailed label indicating the Heat Number, Batch Number, Grade, Size, and Weight.
