With stable inventory and extensive export experience, GNEE provides Material Test Certificates (MTC/EN 10204 3.1), chemical composition analysis, mechanical property testing, hardness testing, and third-party inspection services. Our products are designed to meet the requirements of sectors such as petrochemicals, pressure equipment, food machinery, mold manufacturing, automotive components, and high-temperature industrial applications.

We supply 304, 316L, and 310S stainless steel bright bars compliant with ASTM A276 and ASTM A479/A479M standards. Available shapes include round, square, hexagonal, and flat bars, with diameters ranging from 3 mm to 500 mm and lengths from 1,000 mm to 6,000 mm (custom processing also available). Manufactured using cold-drawing, cold-rolling, peeling, and precision polishing processes, the bars come in various surface finishes-such as Bright, BA, Polished, and No. 4-and feature dimensional tolerances that meet the requirements of precision machining.

A276 vs. A479: Key Difference

Standard Scope Key Requirements
ASTM A276 (ASME SA-276) General engineering bar & shapes General corrosion resistance; machined parts, shafts, fasteners, structural components
ASTM A479 (ASME SA-479) Boilers & pressure vessels Mandatory solution annealing, per-bar end hardness testing, stricter traceability; adopted by ASME BPVC

"Black" vs. "Bright" - What the Finishes Mean

Finish Manufacturing Process Surface Typical Use
Black (Hot-Rolled) Hot-rolled, as-rolled or pickled/descaled Dark oxide scale; rough; no machining allowance Forging stock, heavy structural parts, further machining
Bright (Cold-Drawn / T&P) Cold-drawn, peeled, turned & polished, or centreless ground Smooth, bright, tight tolerances (h8–h11) Precision shafts, pump/valve components, final-dimension parts

304 vs.316Lvs.316L :Bright Bar Applications

Grade Black Bar Applications Bright Bar Applications
304 Forging stock, structural frames, general fabrication Pump shafts, food processing equipment, architectural hardware, general mechanical parts
316L Marine structural stock, chemical plant frames Marine hardware, chemical processing shafts, medical/surgical components, pharmaceutical equipment, desalination systems
310S Furnace components, heat exchanger tubes, flue gas ducts, kiln furniture High-temperature shafts, burner tips, exhaust system components, catalytic converter supports

A479 Vs. A276: How to choose?

A479 (SA-479): Bar is going Inside A Pressure Vessel Or Boiler - staybolts, nozzle internals, flange ring segments, baffles. ASME code stamp requires it.

A276 (SA-276): Everything else - machined parts, shafts, fasteners, structural components, general corrosion-resistant applications.

In practice, most 304/316L/310S bar in the US market is ordered to A276. A479 is specified when the part is a pressure-retaining component per ASME Section I or VIII.
