Description
Grade 2507 is a super duplex stainless steel, an upgraded version of 2205, with higher chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen contents, offering superior corrosion resistance and strength. It has a balanced austenitic-ferritic microstructure (50-50), combining exceptional corrosion resistance with extreme strength. 2507 contains 24.0-26.0% chromium, 6.0-8.0% nickel, 3.0-5.0% molybdenum, and 0.24-0.32% nitrogen, making it highly resistant to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking in the most aggressive chloride-containing environments. It is magnetic and has excellent toughness, even at low temperatures, and good weldability with proper procedures. 2507 is designed for the most demanding applications where 2205 may not provide sufficient corrosion resistance, such as high-chloride, high-pressure, and high-temperature environments. Its high strength allows for lightweight designs, making it a cost-effective choice for extreme service conditions.
Chemical Composition (wt%)
C ≤ 0.03, Cr: 24.00-26.00, Ni: 6.00-8.00, Mo: 3.00-5.00, Mn ≤ 1.20, Si ≤ 0.80, P ≤ 0.030, S ≤ 0.020, N: 0.24-0.32
Mechanical Properties
Tensile Strength ≥ 795 MPa, Yield Strength ≥ 550 MPa, Elongation ≥ 25%, Hardness ≤ 310 HB
Advantages
Superior corrosion resistance (exceeds 2205) in aggressive chloride environments; extremely high strength and toughness; good low-temperature performance; magnetic; excellent weldability; suitable for extreme service conditions (high pressure, high temperature, high chloride).
Applications
Offshore oil and gas platforms, desalination plants, chemical processing equipment (especially for harsh chemicals), marine pipelines, and high-pressure vessels in corrosive environments.
Equivalent Grades
AISI 2507, UNS S32750, EN 1.4410, GB 022Cr25Ni7Mo4N
