Grade Specifications (SUS304)

Composition: ~18% Chromium (Cr), ~8% Nickel (Ni).

Type: Austenitic.

Key Properties:

Corrosion Resistance: High resistance to rust, oxidation, and various forms of corrosion (pitting, crevice) in mild environments.

Mechanical: Good strength, ductility, toughness (even at cryogenic temperatures), and formability (deep drawing).

Thermal: Good high-temperature strength and oxidation resistance, with resistance up to ~870°C.

Magnetic: Non-magnetic in the annealed (solution-treated) state but becomes slightly magnetic when cold-worked.

Variants:

SUS304L (Low Carbon): Improved weldability, prevents sensitization (intergranular corrosion) in heavy sections.

SUS304H (High Carbon): Enhanced high-temperature strength.

Common Uses

Kitchen & Food: Sinks, utensils, cookware, food processing equipment, dairy equipment.

Architecture: Building facades, structural components, decorative trim.

Industrial: Chemical containers, tanks, heat exchangers, piping, sanitary tubing.

Machinery: Springs, hinges, general components requiring hygiene and durability.
