Overview
SUS410L is a low-carbon ferritic stainless steel under JIS G 4303/G 4304, characterized by its ultra-low carbon content (≤0.03%) which significantly improves corrosion resistance and weldability compared to standard SUS410. With 11.00-13.50% chromium, it forms a dense passive film to resist atmospheric, freshwater, and mild chemical corrosion. As a ferritic grade, it is magnetic, has good thermal conductivity, and is non-heat-treatable, maintaining stable mechanical properties in various fabrication processes. Its low carbon content eliminates the risk of intergranular corrosion after welding, making it suitable for welded structures in mild corrosive environments.
Chemical Composition (wt%)
C ≤ 0.03, Cr: 11.00-13.50, Mn ≤ 1.00, Si ≤ 1.00, P ≤ 0.040, S ≤ 0.030, Ni ≤ 0.60
Typical Mechanical Properties (Annealed Condition)
Tensile Strength (Rm): ≥ 360 MPa; Yield Strength (Rp0.2): ≥ 195 MPa; Elongation (A): ≥ 22%; Brinell Hardness (HB): ≤ 183
Core Advantages
Ultra-low carbon content enhances corrosion resistance and weldability; no intergranular corrosion after welding (no post-weld annealing required); good formability for stamping, bending, and cutting; magnetic with high thermal conductivity; cost-effective for general-purpose applications; compatible with various welding methods.
Applications
Welded industrial piping, chemical storage tanks (mild media), food processing equipment, architectural railings, household appliance parts, and general structural components in mild corrosive environments.
Equivalent Grades
EN 1.4003, UNS S41003, GB 022Cr12, AISI 410L
