Product Overview

UNS S30908 (309S) is a low-carbon, high-chromium austenitic stainless steel engineered for exceptional oxidation resistance at moderate to high temperatures. With 22-24% chromium and 12-15% nickel, it outperforms 304/316 series grades in heat resistance, withstanding continuous temperatures up to 900°C without scaling. The low carbon content (≤0.08%) ensures weldability and prevents sensitization, making it suitable for welded high-temperature components. This grade balances heat resistance, fabricability, and cost, serving as a reliable workhorse for industrial heating applications.
