What is DIN 1.4301 Stainless Steel Round Pipe?
DIN 1.4301 stainless steel, also known as AISI 304 or X5CrNi18-10, is one of the most widely used austenitic stainless steel grades. The 1.4301 round pipe is made from this highly versatile alloy, known for its excellent corrosion resistance, good weldability, and attractive surface finish. It is widely used in industries such as construction, food processing, chemical engineering, and piping systems.

Corrosion Resistance
1.4301 stainless steel industrial pipes contain 18–20% chromium and 8–10.5% nickel, forming a dense passive film that effectively resists corrosion from atmospheric conditions, fresh water, mild acids and alkalis, and food processing media. In a 3% NaCl solution, the annual corrosion rate is less than 0.01 mm.
Workability
1.4301 cold rolled stainless steel pipes support cold bending (minimum radius: 2D), flaring, and other fabrication methods. Welding can be performed without post-weld heat treatment, making it suitable for complex working environments. Surface finishing can reach Ra ≤ 0.4 μm, compliant with EC 1935/2004 standards for food contact. The material performs well across a wide temperature range from -196°C to 800°C, offering a clear advantage in overall cost-effectiveness.
Cost Efficiency
1.4301 large diameter steel tubing is approximately one-third lighter than carbon steel by density. Its initial cost is about 20% lower than 316L, making it a high-value choice for corrosion-resistant piping in the chemical, food processing, and construction industries.
