What is ASTM A270 TP201 sanitary pipe?
ASTM A270 TP201 is an economical austenitic stainless steel pipe that meets the ASTM A270 sanitary pipe standard. It belongs to the 200 series stainless steel (replacing some nickel elements to reduce costs). Through mechanical polishing (MP)/acid pickling (AP) surface treatment, the inner wall roughness Ra≤1.6μm is achieved. It is suitable for low-corrosion, medium-cleanliness scenarios, such as ordinary food processing, drinking water transportation, and daily chemical raw material pipelines, balancing costs and basic cleanliness requirements.

What are the main differences between TP201 and TP304 sanitary pipes?
TP201 contains high Mn and low Ni (Ni 3.5-5.5%), while TP304 contains Ni 8-10.5%. The corrosion resistance of TP304 is more than twice that of TP201; TP201 is 20%-30% lower than TP304, which is suitable for non-severe corrosion scenarios.
What should be paid attention to when welding TP201?
ER201 special welding wire should be used, and the interlayer temperature should be controlled to be less than 150℃. After welding, the surface oxide scale must be removed by pickling, otherwise the weld area is prone to corrosion due to Mn segregation.
What is the service life of TP201 sanitary pipes?
In low-corrosion scenarios such as drinking water, the service life can reach 5-8 years under reasonable maintenance; in high-humidity industrial environments, it is recommended to use anti-corrosion coatings to extend the service life to more than 10 years.
