309S Stainless Steel Knowledge

Description

309S is a low-carbon, high-chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steel designed for moderate high-temperature service. It offers better oxidation resistance than 304 and good structural stability at elevated temperatures.

Chemical Composition

C ≤ 0.08, Cr 22.0–24.0, Ni 12.0–15.0

Mechanical Properties

Tensile Strength ≥ 515 MPa, Yield Strength ≥ 205 MPa, Elongation ≥ 40%

Advantages

Excellent oxidation resistance up to 1093°C (1999°F). Better high-temperature performance than 304/316. Good formability and weldability.

Applications

Furnace parts, heat treatment fixtures, kiln liners, stacks, thermal processing equipment.
