Overview
310S is a low-carbon, ultra-high chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steel, renowned for its exceptional high-temperature oxidation and corrosion resistance. With 24.00-26.00% chromium and 19.00-22.00% nickel, it forms a stable protective oxide film that can withstand continuous service at temperatures up to 1050°C and short-term peaks up to 1100°C, even in harsh sulfur-containing or carburizing atmospheres. Its low carbon content (≤ 0.08%) improves weldability and minimizes carbide precipitation during welding, while its austenitic structure ensures non-magnetic properties and excellent ductility. This grade is the top choice for the most demanding high-temperature industrial applications.
Chemical Composition (wt%)
C ≤ 0.08, Si ≤ 1.00, Mn ≤ 2.00, P ≤ 0.045, S ≤ 0.030, Cr: 24.00-26.00, Ni: 19.00-22.00
Typical Mechanical Properties (Annealed Condition)
Tensile Strength (Rm): ≥ 515 MPa; Yield Strength (Rp0.2): ≥ 205 MPa; Elongation (A): ≥ 40%; Brinell Hardness (HB): ≤ 201
Core Advantages
Ultra-high chromium-nickel content provides superior high-temperature oxidation, carburization, and sulfidation resistance; low carbon content enhances weldability; non-magnetic; excellent ductility and formability; stable performance at extreme high temperatures (up to 1050°C continuous service).
Applications
High-temperature furnace linings, boiler superheater tubes, petrochemical cracking furnaces, incinerators, aerospace engine components, and extreme thermal processing equipment.
Equivalent Grades
UNS S31008, STS310S, SUS310S, EN 1.4845, GB 06Cr25Ni20
