316 stainless steel processing and welding
Formability: Good plasticity, can be cold-bent and deep-drawn (such as medical device housing), but the work hardening rate is slightly higher than 304, and the deformation needs to be controlled.
Weldability:
It is recommended to use matching 316L or 316 welding wire/electrode to avoid excessive welding heat input leading to grain coarsening; 316L does not require post-weld heat treatment due to low carbon, and is suitable for large-scale welding structures (such as storage tanks and pipelines).
316 stainless steel application
Highly corrosive environment: marine engineering (ship accessories, seawater desalination equipment), chemical pipelines (acid and alkali transportation), papermaking (bleaching process).
Sanitary field: food processing equipment (storage tanks, pipelines), medical devices (surgical instruments, implants, requiring additional polishing/passivation).
High temperature scenarios: heat treatment furnace components, automobile exhaust purification devices (need to be resistant to exhaust gas corrosion).
