Description
316Ti is a titanium-stabilized variant of 316, designed to enhance high-temperature stability and intergranular corrosion resistance. It contains the same chromium, nickel, and molybdenum content as 316, with the addition of 0.10-0.20% titanium- which binds with carbon to prevent chromium carbide precipitation at elevated temperatures, eliminating sensitization. Unlike 316 and 316L, 316Ti offers superior creep resistance and intergranular corrosion resistance at temperatures up to 800°C, making it ideal for high-temperature applications in chemical and petrochemical industries. It remains non-magnetic at room temperature, has good formability and weldability, and retains the chloride resistance of 316, providing a specialized solution for high-heat, corrosive environments where long-term stability is critical.
Chemical Composition (wt%)
C ≤ 0.08, Cr: 16.00-18.50, Ni: 10.00-14.00, Mo: 2.00-3.00, Ti: 0.10-0.20, Mn ≤ 2.00, Si ≤ 1.00, P ≤ 0.045, S ≤ 0.030
Mechanical Properties
Tensile Strength ≥ 520 MPa, Yield Strength ≥ 205 MPa, Elongation ≥ 40%, Hardness ≤ 215 HB
Advantages
Titanium-stabilized to prevent sensitization; superior high-temperature creep and intergranular corrosion resistance vs. 316; excellent chloride corrosion resistance; non-magnetic; good weldability and formability; ideal for high-heat corrosive applications.
Applications
High-temperature chemical reactors, petrochemical piping, heat exchangers, furnace components, and industrial systems requiring high-heat stability and corrosion resistance.
Equivalent Grades
AISI 316Ti, UNS S31635, EN 1.4571, GB 06Cr17Ni12Mo2Ti
