what is A2-70 stainless steel ?
A2-70 stainless steel is a common, cold-worked austenitic grade (similar to Type 304) known for good corrosion resistance and moderate strength, indicated by its minimum tensile strength of 700 MPa (or N/mm²), making it ideal for general engineering, automotive, and architectural uses where high strength and durability without extreme conditions are needed.
Is A2 70 equivalent to 304?
A2 70 material equivalent is a robust and versatile stainless steel grade that offers excellent properties for various industrial applications. Its equivalents, DIN 1.4301 and ASTM 304 provide further options for engineers and designers to choose the right material for their specific needs.
Are A2 and 304 the same?
That said, there are two main classifications of stainless steel commonly available and in use. These are called A2 and A4. A2 is also known as 304, whereas A4 is also known as 316.
A4 vs A2 or 316 vs 304
A2 stainless steel provides good corrosion resistance in everyday environments but is less effective in high-chloride areas. A4 stainless steel resists chlorides and acids better. It is more expensive than A2.
A2 is used in general applications like kitchen equipment and indoor structures. A4 is preferred for harsher environments such as marine settings and chemical plants.
