Our ASTM A240 S32205 plates are produced through a complete and controlled process route, including electric furnace melting, AOD refining, hot rolling, solution annealing, and water quenching, ensuring a uniform duplex phase structure and stable, consistent mechanical properties.

 

S32205 duplex stainless steel plates feature a balanced duplex microstructure containing approximately 22% chromium (Cr), 3% molybdenum (Mo), and a high nitrogen (N) content. The yield strength reaches ≥450 MPa, more than twice that of 316L stainless steel, while also providing excellent low-temperature toughness at -40°C. In terms of resistance to chloride pitting and stress corrosion cracking, its performance is 3 to 5 times superior to conventional stainless steels.

Given below is a list of possible alternative grades, which may be chosen in place of 2205.

Grade	Reasons for choosing the grade
904L	Better formability is needed, with similar corrosion resistance and lower strength.
UR52N+	High resistance to corrosion is required, e.g. resistance to higher temperature seawater.
6%Mo	Higher corrosion resistance is required, but with lower strength and better formability.
316L	The high corrosion resistance and strength of 2205 are not needed. 316L is lower cost.
