What is A269 TP316L pipe material?
ASTM A269 stainless steel pipe is suitable for both low- and high-temperature applications. These pipes can be made from austenitic steel and are produced using the electric resistance welding, electric fusion welding, or seamless cold-drawn processes.

ASTM A269 TP316 is a seamless, welded austenitic steel with a nominal wall thickness designed for use with 316 austenitic stainless steel. ASTM A269 TP316L bright annealed stainless steel welded pipe is made from molybdenum-bearing austenitic stainless steel (UNS S31603), TIG/MIG welded, and bright annealed to achieve a non-oxidized surface. This welded pipe is suitable for semiconductor, pharmaceutical, and high-purity gas delivery applications.

 

ASTM A269 specifies that pipe sizes and thicknesses generally available to this specification are 1⁄4 inch (6.4 mm) inside diameter and larger, with a nominal wall thickness of 0.020 inch (0.51 mm) and larger. Custom sizes are also available upon request. ASTM A269 TP316L pipe is available in bright annealed (BA) and polished finishes.

ASTM A269 applies to stainless steel tubing for general purposes and is written as ASTM A269 – Standard Specification for General Purpose Seamless and Welded Austenitic Stainless Steel Tubing. ASTM A270 applies to stainless steel tubing for sanitary facilities and is written as ASTM A270 – Seamless and welded austenitic and ferritic/austenitic stainless steel tubes for sanitary facilities
