What is ASTM A403 Standard?

ASTM A403 is a standard specification developed by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) specifically for austenitic stainless steel pipe fittings, covering elbows, tees, reducers (large and small ends), caps, flanged short pipes, water seals, and branch pipes. This standard imposes stringent requirements on the materials, manufacturing, dimensions, tolerances, testing, inspection, and marking of these fittings.

 

ASTM A403 WP304H stainless steel weld neck elbows are pipe fittings made of high-carbon 304 stainless steel (304H grade) used to change the direction of fluid flow in pipelines. "WP" indicates seamless or welded austenitic stainless steel pipe manufactured by forging, rolling, or extrusion processes and requiring heat treatment; "H" indicates high carbon. Compared to ordinary 304 stainless steel, 304H stainless steel has a higher carbon content, which needs to be controlled within the range of 0.04% to 0.10% to improve the material's strength and creep resistance at high temperatures.
