316L-EP316L-EP316L-EP

Why 316L-EP dominates buffer solutions?
Electropolished to Ra 0.15μm, 316L sheds <5 particles/ft³ >0.1μm. Validated for 200+ SIP cycles at 130°C. Costs $120/meter vs. C-276's $400/meter.

When is alloy C-276 mandatory?
For high-purity acids (HCl, HNO₃) and cytotoxic drugs. Molybdenum (15-17%) prevents pitting from chloride residues. Surface iron content <0.01% prevents catalytic reactions.

Permissible contaminant levels?
Endotoxins <0.25 EU/mL. TOC <500 ppb. Metallic ions <0.1 ppb (Fe, Cr, Ni). Particles >0.2μm <1 per mL.

Welding and assembly best practices?
Orbital GTAW with ER316LSi filler. Internal argon purge (O₂<20 ppm). No crevices (weld reinforcement <10% wall thickness). Post-weld electropolish all product contact zones.

Validation testing sequence?
Bovine serum albumin adhesion test <5 μg/cm². USP <788> particulate testing. HPLC analysis for extractables. Bacterial biofilm challenge (Pseudomonas aeruginosa).
