What is X5CrNiMo17-12-2 stainless steel plate?
X5CrNiMo17-12-2 stainless steel plate is a molybdenum-bearing austenitic stainless steel conforming to the German standard (DIN 17440), commonly referred to as 1.4401. Due to the addition of molybdenum (2.0%–3.0%), its resistance to chloride corrosion and pitting is significantly superior to that of 304 (1.4301) stainless steel. This grade is widely utilized for sheet metal components requiring high corrosion resistance in the chemical, marine, and food industries.
GNEE supplies X5CrNiMo17-12-2 (EN 1.4401, equivalent to ASTM A240 316) stainless steel hot rolled plates, fully compliant with EN 10088-2 and ASTM A240 standards. The available specifications include thicknesses from 3.0–100 mm, widths from 1000–3000 mm, and lengths from 2000–12000 mm. Custom services such as cutting, slitting, and heat treatment are also available.
X5CrNiMo17-12-2 stainless steel plates contain C ≤ 0.07%, Cr 16.5–18.5%, Ni 10.0–13.0%, and Mo 2.00–2.50%, ensuring excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. Its PREN value is ≥ 32, significantly higher than that of 304 stainless steel.EN 1.4401 plates are delivered in the solution annealed (+AT) condition. Surface finishes include pickled (2D), sandblasted, or polished. Dimensional tolerance is controlled within ±0.5 mm.

For continuously hot-rolled products, a deviation of up to 20 MPa above the minimum yield strength is permissible during inquiry and ordering. (Note: Yield strength refers to Rp0.2.)
For thicknesses t < 3 mm, the standard specimen dimensions are 80 mm in length and 20 mm in width; standard specimens measuring 50 mm in length and 12.5 mm in width may also be used.

1.4401 Stainless Steel Welding:
Excellent weldability with common methods (TIG, MIG, Arc, Laser). Since it is not the "L" (Low Carbon) grade, intergranular corrosion may occur in the weld zone if used in very thick sections or high-temperature corrosive environments.
EN 1.4401 X5CrNiMo17-12-2 Stainless Steel Plate Supplier
Our products undergo 100% Ultrasonic Testing (UT) to ensure they are free from internal defects. Each batch is accompanied by an EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Certificate (MTC), a third-party inspection report from SGS or TUV, and traceable raw material certifications.
