Overview
EN 1.4833 is a low-carbon, high-chromium austenitic stainless steel engineered for exceptional oxidation resistance at moderate to high temperatures. With 22.0-24.0% chromium and 12.0-15.0% nickel, it outperforms EN 1.4301 and EN 1.4401 series grades in heat resistance, withstanding continuous temperatures up to 900°C without scaling. The low carbon content (≤0.08%) ensures good weldability and prevents sensitization, making it suitable for welded high-temperature components. This grade balances heat resistance, fabricability, and cost, serving as a reliable workhorse for industrial heating applications.
Chemical Composition (wt%)
C ≤ 0.08, Cr: 22.00-24.00, Ni: 12.00-15.00, Mn ≤ 2.00, Si ≤ 1.00, P ≤ 0.045, S ≤ 0.015
Typical Mechanical Properties (Annealed Condition)
Tensile Strength (Rm): ≥ 515 MPa; Yield Strength (Rp0.2): ≥ 205 MPa; Elongation (A): ≥ 40%; Brinell Hardness (HB): ≤ 217
Core Advantages
Excellent high-temperature oxidation and scaling resistance; low-carbon design for enhanced weldability; good ductility and formability; non-magnetic; cost-effective for moderate high-heat applications; stable performance under thermal cycling.
Applications
Furnace linings, heat exchangers, boiler components, incinerator parts, industrial heating ducts, and high-temperature processing equipment.
Equivalent Grades
AISI 309S, UNS S30908, GB 06Cr23Ni13, SUS309S
