Grade 304L Stainless Steel

304L is the low-carbon variant of 304, with carbon content controlled to ≤0.03%, mainly designed to avoid intergranular corrosion after welding, suitable for welded structures without post-weld annealing.

 

Chemical Composition (wt%): C≤0.03, Cr:18.0-20.0, Ni:8.0-12.0, Mn≤2.0, Si≤1.0, P≤0.045, S≤0.030.

Mechanical Properties: Tensile strength≥485MPa, Yield strength≥170MPa, Elongation≥40%, Hardness≤201 HB.

Performance Advantages: Superior intergranular corrosion resistance after welding compared to 304; same formability and basic corrosion resistance as 304, but slightly lower high-temperature strength than 304H.

Applications: Chemical tanks, pressure piping, structural weldments, pharmaceutical equipment, welded fabrications.

Equivalent Grades: AISI 304L, UNS S30403, EN 1.4307, GB 022Cr19Ni10.
