Description

Grade 316H combines 316's chloride corrosion resistance with enhanced high-temperature performance, engineered for sustained service in elevated thermal environments. With a carbon range of 0.04-0.10%, it delivers improved creep resistance and mechanical stability at temperatures above 500°C, outperforming 316 and 316L in long-term heat-exposed applications. Its austenitic structure ensures non-magnetic properties, while the higher carbon content boosts tensile strength and creep resistance under thermal stress. Unlike standard 316, 316H is specifically formulated for high-heat, corrosive environments such as petrochemical processing and power generation.

Chemical Composition (wt%)

C: 0.04-0.10, Cr: 16.00-18.50, Ni: 10.00-14.00, Mo: 2.00-3.00, Mn ≤ 2.00, Si ≤ 1.00, P ≤ 0.045, S ≤ 0.030

Mechanical Properties

Tensile Strength ≥ 520 MPa, Yield Strength ≥ 205 MPa, Elongation ≥ 40%, Hardness ≤ 215 HB

Advantages

Superior high-temperature creep resistance; balanced chloride corrosion and heat resistance; non-magnetic; excellent thermal stability; suitable for pressure-containing components.

Applications

High-temperature chemical reactors, boiler tubes, petrochemical processing equipment, power generation systems, and heat exchangers operating at 500°C+.

Equivalent Grades
