Grade SUH409 Stainless Steel

Description

Grade SUH409 is a heat-resistant ferritic stainless steel, specifically designed for high-temperature applications that require moderate corrosion resistance and excellent thermal stability. As a titanium-stabilized grade, it effectively prevents intergranular corrosion and improves weldability, making it suitable for welded components exposed to repeated heating and cooling cycles. SUH409 contains 10.5-11.75% chromium, which provides basic corrosion protection in dry and mildly corrosive environments, while its ferritic structure ensures it is magnetic and offers good thermal conductivity. Unlike austenitic grades such as SUS304 or SUS316, SUH409 is cost-effective and prioritizes heat resistance over extreme corrosion resistance, making it the preferred choice for automotive exhaust systems and industrial high-temperature components. It is easy to fabricate through welding, bending, and forming, and maintains stable performance at continuous service temperatures up to 800°C.

Tensile Strength ≥ 415 MPa, Yield Strength ≥ 205 MPa, Elongation ≥ 20%, Hardness ≤ 183 HB
