What is 440 Stainless Steel?
440 stainless steel is a high carbon stainless steel that usually contains about 1% carbon and about 16-18% chromium. It is a type of martensitic stainless steel with good hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance. The 440 stainless steel series is usually divided into three different grades: 440A, 440B, and 440C, which mainly differ in carbon content and hardness.
440A usually has a lower carbon content, while 440B and 440C have higher carbon content, so they have slightly different hardness and corrosion resistance. These steels are often used in knife manufacturing, industrial equipment, medical equipment, and other fields.
