SUS430 – Economical Ferritic Alloy For Decorative & Industrial Trim Applications

Overview

SUS430 is a widely used ferritic stainless steel specified by JIS G 4303/G 4304, featuring 16.00-18.00% chromium for good atmospheric and freshwater corrosion resistance. As a non-heat-treatable grade, it maintains stable mechanical properties and offers excellent formability, making it easy to stamp, bend, and weld. It is magnetic, has a natural matte finish that polishes well, and is cost-effective-positioning it as a popular choice for decorative and general industrial applications where aesthetics and budget are key. Unlike austenitic grades, it resists chloride stress corrosion cracking at elevated temperatures.
