Product Overview
UNS S30409 is the high-carbon version of S30400, engineered exclusively for elevated-temperature service where mechanical stability and creep resistance are paramount. With a controlled carbon range of 0.04-0.10%, it delivers significantly improved tensile strength and creep resistance at temperatures above 500°C, outperforming both S30400 and S30403 in long-term thermal environments. This grade maintains the austenitic microstructure and general corrosion resistance of standard 304, remaining non-magnetic at room temperature. It is optimized for components subjected to sustained heat stress, balancing heat resistance with moderate corrosion protection for industrial heating and power applications.
Chemical Composition (Mass Fraction, %)
C: 0.04-0.10, Cr: 18.00-20.00, Ni: 8.00-11.00, Mn ≤ 2.00, Si ≤ 1.00, P ≤ 0.045, S ≤ 0.030, N ≤ 0.11
Mechanical Properties (Annealed Condition)
Tensile Strength ≥ 520 MPa; Yield Strength ≥ 205 MPa; Elongation ≥ 40%; Hardness ≤ 200 HB
Core Advantages
Enhanced high-temperature creep strength; excellent oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures; stable mechanical performance under prolonged heat exposure; non-magnetic; good weldability; cost-effective for high-heat general applications.
Typical Applications
Boiler tubes, high-temperature piping, heat exchangers, furnace components, power generation equipment, and industrial heating systems operating at 500°C and above.
Equivalent Grades
AISI 304H, EN 1.4306, GB 07Cr19Ni10, SUS304H
