Product Overview
UNS S31600 is a molybdenum-enhanced austenitic stainless steel, designed to address the limitations of S30400 in chloride-rich environments. Featuring 2.0-3.0% molybdenum alongside 16-18.5% chromium and 10-14% nickel, it delivers superior pitting and crevice corrosion resistance, making it ideal for marine, coastal, and chemical processing settings. This grade retains the non-magnetic, ductile austenitic structure, with excellent low-temperature toughness and fabricability. Unlike S30400, S31600 thrives in harsh, salt-laden atmospheres and mild chemical solutions, serving as the go-to upgrade for applications requiring enhanced corrosion durability.
Chemical Composition (Mass Fraction, %)
C ≤ 0.08, Cr: 16.00-18.50, Ni: 10.00-14.00, Mo: 2.00-3.00, Mn ≤ 2.00, Si ≤ 1.00, P ≤ 0.045, S ≤ 0.030, N ≤ 0.11
Mechanical Properties (Annealed Condition)
Tensile Strength ≥ 520 MPa; Yield Strength ≥ 205 MPa; Elongation ≥ 40%; Hardness ≤ 215 HB
