What is ASTM A269 material?
ASTM A269 covers the nominal wall thickness grades of stainless steel pipe specified in the standard for general corrosion resistance and low or high temperature service. ASTM A269 stainless steel pipe sizes and thicknesses typically supplied to this specification are 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) inside diameter and larger, and 0.020 inch (0.51 mm) nominal wall thickness and larger.
What is A269 TP316 material?
ASTM A269 Tp316 stainless steel pipe is a seamless, welded austenitic steel with a nominal wall thickness of 316 austenitic stainless steel. Composed of 16% chromium, 10% nickel, and 2% molybdenum, ASTM A269 Tp316 pipe is available in seamless, welded, and electric resistance welded (ERW) constructions. SA269 Gr 316 pipe is widely used in various pressure vessel grades. It is exceptionally strong and protects the pipe from pitting and crevice corrosion caused by stress-inducing devices.

Is ASTM A269 TP316 Schedule 40 or Schedule 80 Stronger?
SCH 80 SA 269 TP 316 Seamless Tubes have greater wall thickness than SCH 40 ones. This means that sch 80 is able to withstand higher pressure ratings and has greater strength. Thus, sch 40 tubes are ideal for low pressure applications. Whereas, sch 80 tubes are used for industrial and chemical applications.
Markings
Markings will adhere to prescribed specifications in A1016/A 1016M and shall include whether the tubing is seamless or welded and the final heat-treatment temperature in digress Fahrenheit after the suffix" if the final heat treatment temperature is under 1900°F (1040°C).
When the nondestructive electric test is performed, each length of tubing shall be marked with the letters "NDE" and the certification, when required, shall also indicate this test.
