What is AISI 304L stainless steel capillary tubing?
AISI 304L stainless steel capillary tubing (UNS S30403, EN 1.4306) is an ultra-precision thin-walled austenitic stainless steel tube with a low carbon content of ≤0.035% (standard 304 stainless steel has a carbon content of ≤0.08%). Its mechanical properties include a minimum yield strength of 170 MPa, tensile strength of 485–655 MPa, and elongation of ≥40%. It also exhibits excellent corrosion resistance in mild chemical environments, making it ideal for applications requiring precise sealing and resistance to intergranular corrosion, such as medical devices, instrumentation, fluid sampling systems, aerospace hydraulic lines, and semiconductor processing equipment.
Our SS 304L capillary tubing is specifically designed for applications requiring tight dimensional tolerances, enhanced intergranular corrosion resistance after welding, and high purity. It is manufactured using cold drawing or micro-extrusion processes and conforms to ASTM A269/A632/ASME SA269 standards. Outer diameters (OD) range from 0.3–12.7 mm, wall thicknesses (WT) from 0.1–1.65 mm (with a precision tolerance of ±0.01 mm), and standard lengths are 1–6 m. Surface finishes include bright annealed (BA, Ra ≤0.8 μm) or electropolished (EP, Ra ≤0.25 μm).

AISI 304L stainless steel capillary tubes (UNS S30403, EN 1.4306) are packaged with multi-layer precision packaging to protect their ultra-thin walls and strict dimensional tolerances: the inner layer uses food-grade PVC film for individual tube wrapping, supplemented with acid-free waterproof paper to prevent corrosion; the middle layer uses EPE foam for shock absorption; and the outer layer uses fumigated wooden crates or plywood pallets conforming to ISPM 15 standards (15-25 kg per crate), secured with steel straps, and the tube ends are sealed with plastic protective caps to prevent scratching.
