ASTM A240 304 2B stainless steel coils are currently one of the most widely used stainless steel raw materials. Supplied in coil form, they are mostly used for subsequent secondary processing such as slitting, stamping, and bending.
 
Our 304 2B stainless steel coils are produced using fully refined stainless steel, with a nickel content maintained above 8.0% and a chromium content above 18.0%, ensuring stable corrosion resistance and a long service life. The thickness tolerance can be controlled within ±0.02 mm, effectively avoiding welding defects and strength problems caused by excessive negative tolerances.
 
The hardness of ASTM A240 304 stainless steel coils is usually maintained between HV 170–190, and the elongation exceeds 40%. While providing excellent bending, deep drawing, and forming performance, it minimizes cracking, deformation, and residual stress after processing.
The thickness of 304 2B stainless steel coil is 0.3mm - 6.0mm, width: 600mm - 2000mm,, coil inner diameter: conventional 508mm/610mm, single coil weight: usually 3-5 tons, customizable, each batch of goods is accompanied by EN 10204 3.1 Material Test Certificate (MTC), PMI (Positive Material Identification) verification and a complete inspection report to ensure full traceability.

We inspect the 2B surface of each coil of products one by one to ensure that there are no roll marks, oil stains, scratches and color differences. For laser cutting applications, we provide 70 μm or 100 μm laser-grade PVC protective films (Novacel or Polifilm) to prevent film peeling, dross, and surface contamination during processing.

What is the difference between 304 and 304L?

The primary difference lies in the carbon content. 304 has a maximum carbon content of 0.08%, whereas 304L has a maximum of 0.03% (the "L" stands for "Low Carbon").
When welding thick plates, 304L prevents "carbide precipitation" during the welding process, ensuring that the weld zone retains its corrosion resistance without the need for post-weld annealing.

 

How do you calculate the weight of a 304 stainless steel coil?

The standard formula for calculating weight is: 

Weight (kg) = Thickness (mm) × Width (m) × Length (m) × Density (7.93)
Example: For a sheet with a thickness of 1.0 mm, a width of 1219 mm, and a length of 2438 mm, the weight is: 1.0 × 1.219 × 2.438 × 7.93 ≈ 23.57 kg.
