What is 409 Stainless Steel Hot Rolled Plate ?
SS 409 plate is a ferritic stainless steel containing 10.5%-11.75% chromium, 0.5% nickel, and titanium stabilization. It is resistant to exhaust gas and atmospheric corrosion, and its corrosion resistance is better than 430 stainless steel. It can be used for a long time at 675℃ and withstand a high temperature of 815℃ for a short time. It needs to be preheated to 790-900℃ and then air-cooled for welding. It has excellent mechanical properties (yield strength ≥240MPa, tensile strength ≥450MPa), and is widely used in pressure-bearing scenarios such as automobile exhaust systems and agricultural machinery.

Weldability and heat treatment of 409 ferritic stainless steel plate
Preheat to 790-900°C before welding, air cool after welding to avoid cracks caused by rapid cooling. Choose ER409 welding wire or E409 welding rod, avoid nickel-based welding materials (to prevent the formation of austenite structure). It can be bent and stamped, but attention should be paid to low-temperature brittleness and avoid forming at extremely low temperatures.
Heat treatment: Generally, solution treatment is not required. Annealing temperature of 750-800°C can eliminate stress and improve processing performance.
