What is 347 Hot Rolled Steel Round Bar?

 

347 stainless steel round bar is a round cross-section steel produced by hot rolling process. 347 stainless steel is a stabilized austenitic stainless steel, with niobium and tantalum added as stabilizers to inhibit the precipitation of chromium carbides, significantly improve intergranular corrosion (especially in the sensitization temperature range of 650-850℃), and has excellent high temperature strength and oxidation resistance. Common standards include ASTM A276 (stainless steel bars and profiles), ASTM A479 (stainless steel bars for pressure vessels), etc.

347 Stainless Steel Forged Bar Advantages

347 stainless steel bars are formed into round bars by high temperature (1100-1200℃) rolling. Oxide scale (black skin) may remain on the surface. The dimensional tolerance is slightly larger than that of cold-processed products. After hot rolling, annealing treatment (stress relief and plasticity improvement) can be carried out according to needs, or direct delivery.

 

What should be paid attention to when welding 347 stainless steel?

Welding material selection: Match niobium-containing welding wire (such as ER347) to avoid carbide precipitation.

Heat treatment: No forced annealing is required after welding, but solution treatment (quenching at 1020–1100°C) is recommended for long-term high-temperature service parts.

Note: Control heat input to prevent intergranular corrosion and thermal cracking.
