What is 904L stainless steel round bar ?
904L is a super austenitic stainless steel round bar (UNS N08904) with high nickel (23-25%), high chromium (19-21%), molybdenum (4-5%) and copper (1-2%) as core components. It has excellent corrosion resistance and is suitable for harsh environments such as chemical, energy, and marine. The low carbon (C≤0.02%) design avoids intergranular corrosion and does not require post-weld heat treatment.

904L VS. 316L stainless steel bar
904L contains higher nickel, molybdenum and copper, and has significantly stronger corrosion resistance. It can withstand higher concentrations of sulfuric acid) and chloride environments, while 316L is only resistant to ≤30% sulfuric acid (25℃) and the pitting temperature is ≤25℃; 904L costs about 3-4 times that of 316L and is suitable for harsh and highly corrosive scenes such as chemical and marine, while 316L is used in conventional corrosive environments.

Solution treatment (1100-1150℃ water cooling) to ensure that the alloy elements are fully dissolved.
ASTM A276 SS 904L Round Bars Cold processing:
Can be cold drawn and cold rolled. No intermediate annealing is required when the cold processing rate is ≤30% (hardness is increased to HB 220-240). The diameter tolerance is ±0.001-0.01mm and the surface roughness is Ra≤0.8μm (suitable for seals and pump shafts).
