Duplex 2205 stainless steel channel (UNS S32205/S31803) contains 22% chromium, 5% nickel, 3% molybdenum and nitrogen. It combines the high toughness of austenitic stainless steel with the high strength of ferritic stainless steel. Its C-shaped channel section design further optimizes the bending and torsional properties, making it suitable for complex working conditions with high stress and strong corrosion.
Advantages
In high-temperature and high-pressure environments-such as oil and gas pipeline supports-2205 duplex stainless structural sections offer 2–3 times better stress corrosion cracking (SCC) resistance compared to 316L stainless steel. For the same dimensions, 2205 duplex channels are 10% lighter than 316L, yet deliver up to 50% higher load-bearing capacity, helping reduce material usage, shipping weight, and overall installation costs.
The S32205 stainless steel C channel performs exceptionally well under cyclic loading conditions such as bridge vibrations or mechanical reciprocating movements, offering 40% higher fatigue strength than 304 stainless steel. It supports cold bending up to ≤90° with a minimum bending radius of ≥2x the material thickness, making it ideal for complex structural customizations such as pressure vessel frames and ship deck reinforcements.
