What is ASTM A269 specification?
ASTM A269 is a Standard Specification for Seamless and Welded Austenitic Stainless Steel Tubing for General Service, covering various grades of stainless steel for general corrosion and low- or high-temperature applications. The specification details requirements for chemical composition, mechanical properties (including flaring, flaring, hardness, and reverse flattening tests), and non-destructive testing (like hydrostatic or eddy current tests) to ensure the quality and suitability of the tubing for its intended uses.
ASTM A269 TP316L specifies seamless and welded austenitic stainless steel tubing made from a low-carbon version of grade 316 steel. This tubing contains molybdenum for excellent corrosion resistance in chloride environments. "Dry Coil" designates it as supplied in coil form, while "Cooling-Heating" designates its suitability for systems involving both cooling and heating processes.
