What is the ASTM A928 standard?

ASTM A928 is a standard developed by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) for electric fusion welded (EFW) duplex stainless steel pipes (ferritic/austenitic), specifically for use in corrosive environments. This standard requires the addition of filler metal during the welding process, which distinguishes it from the seamless/welded pipe standard ASTM A790, which does not require the addition of filler metal.

The ASTM A928 Grade 1 S32750 super duplex stainless steel welded pipe we offer is an electric fusion welded (EFW) pipe made from S32750 grade super duplex stainless steel. "Grade 1" indicates that the pipe is double-welded with filler metal, with welding performed on all weld passes, followed by comprehensive radiographic testing to ensure weld integrity. It is suitable for demanding applications in industries such as offshore oil and gas, power generation, and chemical processing.

What is the difference between ASTM A790 and ASTM A928?

ASTM A790 specifies the elements and requirements for the manufacture of seamless and welded pipes, while ASTM A928 covers only electric fusion welded pipes. ASTM A790 requires that duplex and super duplex steel pipes be welded without the addition of any filler metal.
