Description
EN 1.4301 is a widely recognized austenitic stainless steel grade, corresponding to the popular AISI 304, renowned for its exceptional versatility and balanced performance. Composed of 18.0-20.0% chromium and 8.0-12.0% nickel, it forms a stable austenitic microstructure that ensures non-magnetic properties at room temperature. Unlike specialized high-corrosion grades, EN 1.4301 delivers reliable resistance to atmospheric, freshwater, and food-contact corrosion, making it the most commonly used stainless steel for general-purpose applications. It boasts excellent formability, supporting bending, stamping, and welding without sacrificing mechanical strength, and is easy to machine and polish. While not suitable for severe chloride or marine environments, its cost-effectiveness and all-around performance make it a staple in consumer, architectural, and industrial sectors.
Chemical Composition (wt%)
C ≤ 0.08, Cr: 18.00-20.00, Ni: 8.00-12.00, Mn ≤ 2.00, Si ≤ 1.00, P ≤ 0.045, S ≤ 0.030, N ≤ 0.11
Mechanical Properties
Tensile Strength ≥ 520 MPa, Yield Strength ≥ 205 MPa, Elongation ≥ 40%, Hardness ≤ 200 HB
Advantages
