Description
EN 1.4306 is a high-carbon austenitic stainless steel, corresponding to AISI 304H, engineered specifically for elevated-temperature applications. With a carbon range of 0.04-0.10%, it offers enhanced creep resistance and mechanical stability at temperatures above 500°C, outperforming its low-carbon counterpart EN 1.4301 in high-heat environments. It retains the same chromium-nickel composition as EN 1.4301, ensuring non-magnetic properties and reliable general corrosion resistance. Unlike EN 1.4301, EN 1.4306 is optimized for long-term service in high-heat settings, where lower-carbon grades may experience strength degradation. It features good weldability and formability, making it suitable for high-temperature pressure components in power generation, boiler, and industrial heating systems.
Chemical Composition (wt%)
C: 0.04-0.10, Cr: 18.00-20.00, Ni: 8.00-12.00, Mn ≤ 2.00, Si ≤ 1.00, P ≤ 0.045, S ≤ 0.030, N ≤ 0.11
Mechanical Properties
Tensile Strength ≥ 520 MPa, Yield Strength ≥ 205 MPa, Elongation ≥ 40%, Hardness ≤ 200 HB
Advantages
Superior high-temperature creep resistance vs. EN 1.4301; excellent oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures; non-magnetic; good weldability and formability; stable mechanical performance at 500°C+; suitable for high-temperature pressure parts.
Applications
Boiler tubes, high-temperature piping, heat exchangers, furnace components, power generation equipment, and industrial heating systems requiring long-term high-heat stability.
Equivalent Grades
AISI 304H, UNS S30409, GB 07Cr19Ni10, SUS304H
