Description
Grade 304H is the high-carbon variant of Grade 304, tailored for elevated-temperature applications that demand enhanced creep resistance and mechanical stability. With a carbon range of 0.04-0.10%, it outperforms standard 304 and 304L in long-term service at temperatures above 500°C, where lower-carbon grades may experience gradual strength degradation. It maintains the same austenitic structure and general corrosion resistance as 304, remaining non-magnetic at room temperature, while offering improved high-temperature tensile and creep strength. Unlike 304 and 304L, 304H is specifically engineered for high-heat environments, making it a staple in power generation, boiler, and industrial heating applications where components must withstand sustained thermal stress without compromising integrity.
Chemical Composition (wt%)
C: 0.04-0.10, Cr: 18.00-20.00, Ni: 8.00-11.00, Mn ≤ 2.00, Si ≤ 1.00, P ≤ 0.045, S ≤ 0.030
Mechanical Properties
Tensile Strength ≥ 520 MPa, Yield Strength ≥ 205 MPa, Elongation ≥ 40%, Hardness ≤ 200 HB
Advantages
Superior high-temperature creep resistance vs. 304/304L; excellent oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures; non-magnetic; good weldability; stable mechanical performance at 500°C+; suitable for high-temperature pressure components.
Applications
Boiler tubes, high-temperature piping, heat exchangers, furnace components, power generation equipment, and industrial heating systems requiring long-term high-heat stability.
Equivalent Grades
AISI 304H, UNS S30409, EN 1.4306, GB 07Cr19Ni10, SUS304H
