Grade 316L Stainless Steel

316L is the low-carbon variant of 316 (C≤0.03%), combining molybdenum-enhanced corrosion resistance with excellent post-weld intergranular corrosion resistance, widely used in welded critical structures.

Chemical Composition (wt%): C≤0.03, Cr:16.0-18.5, Ni:10.0-14.0, Mo:2.0-3.0, Mn≤2.0, Si≤1.0, P≤0.045, S≤0.030.

Mechanical Properties: Tensile strength≥485MPa, Yield strength≥170MPa, Elongation≥40%, Hardness≤217 HB.

Performance Advantages: Better post-weld corrosion resistance than 316; same molybdenum-enhanced chloride resistance as 316; lower high-temperature strength than 316H.

Applications: Chemical piping, marine equipment, medical devices, pharmaceutical systems, corrosive welded structures.

Equivalent Grades: AISI 316L, UNS S31603, EN 1.4404, GB 022Cr17Ni12Mo2.
