Grade 316 Stainless Steel
316 is a molybdenum-bearing austenitic stainless steel, an upgraded version of 304, with significantly improved pitting and crevice corrosion resistance, especially suitable for chloride-rich environments.
Chemical Composition (wt%): C≤0.08, Cr:16.0-18.5, Ni:10.0-14.0, Mo:2.0-3.0, Mn≤2.0, Si≤1.0, P≤0.045, S≤0.030.
Mechanical Properties: Tensile strength≥515MPa, Yield strength≥205MPa, Elongation≥40%, Hardness≤217 HB.
Performance Advantages: Superior corrosion resistance (especially in marine/chemical environments) than 304 series; good formability, weldability and low-temperature toughness.
Applications: Marine hardware, chemical processing equipment, food machinery, coastal construction, pharmaceutical parts.
Equivalent Grades: AISI 316, UNS S31600, EN 1.4401, GB 06Cr17Ni12Mo2.
