Description
Grade 321 is a titanium-stabilized austenitic stainless steel engineered to deliver exceptional intergranular corrosion resistance and high-temperature stability. With 17.0-19.0% chromium and 9.0-12.0% nickel, it shares the corrosion resistance of 304 series, while the 0.15-0.40% titanium addition forms stable carbides-preventing chromium depletion during welding and high-temperature exposure. Unlike standard 304, 321 maintains structural integrity at temperatures up to 800°C, making it ideal for welded components in thermal environments. Its non-magnetic properties and good formability further enhance its versatility across industrial applications.
Chemical Composition (wt%)
C ≤ 0.08, Cr: 17.00-19.00, Ni: 9.00-12.00, Ti: 0.15-0.40, Mn ≤ 2.00, Si ≤ 1.00, P ≤ 0.045, S ≤ 0.030
Mechanical Properties
Tensile Strength ≥ 515 MPa, Yield Strength ≥ 205 MPa, Elongation ≥ 40%, Hardness ≤ 201 HB
Advantages
Titanium-stabilized for superior intergranular corrosion resistance; excellent high-temperature creep resistance; non-magnetic; good weldability and formability; suitable for welded thermal applications.
Applications
Automotive exhaust systems, heat exchangers, boiler parts, aerospace components, and high-temperature welded structures.
